In the winter, the lure of world class skiing, "Champagne Powder," 500 inches of snow (at the ski areas) brings over a million skiiers to Colorado to take advantage of our many "world class ski resorts." Georgetown is geographically situated in the middle of seven of these areas. Our closest ski area is Loveland Ski Basin, located at the top of Loveland Pass and just 9 miles from our Bread and Breakfast. Arapahoe Basin is just 3 miles further (over the top of Loveland Pass).
Keystone Resort is next, just 3 more miles from Arapahoe Basin. Breckenridge Ski Resort is another ten miles; and, Copper Mountain is just beyond Frisco on I-70, and 30 miles from Georgetown. Vail is the furthest ski resort from Georgetown, a short 55 mile drive (just one hour on I-70).
Winter Part Ski Resort is 30 minutes away on US 40, on the other side of Berthoud Pass. A beautiful drive brings you to Winter Park and Mary Jane Ski Areas.
In addition, ice fishing, jeep races on Georgetown Lake, as well as ice boating keeps Georgetown humming excitement. Our famous "Georgetown Christmas Mart" brings thousands of shoppers to town. Occurring the first and second weekend of December, the Christmass Mart kicks off the Yuletide shopping season featuring local and national artists, as well as, food, music, the Santa Lucia Singers from Georgetown Elementary School. It is a true re-enactment of old Victorian Christmas.
